Initial Visit

 

Your initial appointment with Dr. Newsome is one of the most important visits. This is your time with her to really get to know each other. She only sees one patient at a time so there is plenty of time set aside for just that.  This initial visit is a time when you discuss what is most important to you regarding your dental health. Dr. Newsome would also like to hear about your past dental experiences as well as your “wants and needs” with relationship to your teeth.  She also likes to ask you what your expectations are of her, so she can fulfill those expectations.

 

Dr. Newsome recommends a complete oral evaluation - which includes but is not limited to checking for cavities, probing for periodontal disease, oral cancer screening, smile analysis (for whiting teeth and/or porcelain veneers),  evaluation of your TMJ for clenching and grinding of your teeth, as well as necessary x-rays and any other concerns you may have.  Dr.Newsome will take a tour of your mouth with our intra-oral camera and show you your teeth on a flat screen monitor.  She wants to know what you think and feel is most important to you regarding your dental health, so she can help you with a preventative plan as well as a treatment plan that reflects your needs, wants, and values.

 

For your convenience as well as comfort, Baseline Dental offers headsets with relaxing spa-music and neck and back pillows. Dr. Newsome also offers oral sedation for patients that are anxious about their appointments.
